Effective today, all new Forum registrations will cause an email to be sent to the administrator. When I get the email, I will check to see if the registrant appears to be a spammer. If everything appears ok, then an email will be sent to the registrant with a link to complete the process.

I check the site daily so this means that the time from registering to that of you being able to post, might be as much 24 hours.

I'm sorry that I have to do this but spammers have been registering and inundating the forum with garbage. Today I removed 75 spam messages that had been posted overnight.

Thanks for your understanding.

June 8. 2007

Thanks again to Mervin Hogg for supplying us with some new books to read online.  This time it's the History of the 315th in World War I.

He has also redone the History of the 712th in a new format that is much easier to read and use.  Both of these books include company photos and rosters of GI's who were in those units.

They are also available to download in a pdf format. Be aware that if you wish to use the pdf version, these are large files and will take a while to download, especially for those using a dialup connection.  You can view them online without using the pdf version.

Merv has said that he has more to come and will redo some of the current books into this newer format.

You can see them in the Online Library.

Merv, we owe you !

October 30, 2006

Some spammer has decided that I need to get about 50 emails a day telling me I need his stock. He apparently 'harvested' the webmaster@90thdivisionsssociation.org address off of this site. Sooo, I've had to change my email address to something else.

I've had to go thru the entire website and change all the links to my email address. I hope they don't find them for a while !

All emails to the webmaster should be addressed to sitemaster at 90thdivisionassociation.org (remove the 'at' and replace with an @.

October 25, 2006

Happy New Year everyone !

I've finally got some time to start catching up on the things that many of you have sent me. Over the next few days, I'll be adding a bunch of stuff that I'm sure many of you have been waiting for.

Mervin Hogg is at it again and is transcribing several out-of-print 90th Division books, the latest is the History of the 607th. I have a piece of it and he will be sending more soon. When I have it all, I will publish it here for you all to read.

I'm embarrassed !  Some time ago one of you nice people scanned a company picture of the 357th F CO. and sent it to me on a CD.  Jan Jacobs of New Mexico, also sent me a photo copy and a roster of the same outfit. Unfortunately, her picture is not clear enough for me to repro and post but the roster is fine.  Now the embarrassing part... I misplaced the CD from the person who's name I can't remember !!!!  If the person who sent it to me would contact me about getting another, I'd REALLY appreciate it.

I know I've said it before, but if you've sent me things, please be patient. I try and do this in my spare time and sometimes I don't have a lot of it, but sooner or later, I'll get caught up (maybe).

Thanks for your patience.

There were problems left over in the Forum that prevented some from posting or logging in. Those have been resolved.  Thanks for your patience.

New news about the hacker. It appears that someone in Japan is the person who deleted the site and has been trying to do it again. Fortunately, our ISP has taken steps to prevent future attacks. Tracking them is possible but it's not possible to do anything to shut them down. I just can't understand some people.

May 18, 2005

Today, some internet scum, hacked into the 90th Division Association Web site and deleted the entire site.

As if that is not enough, the backups were somehow affected by a coincidental problem.

This site and it's forum has been restored as of the end of February, meaning that all postings to the forum and additions made to the main site since then are gone and may or may not be able to be reposted.

I ask each of you to look at the site and advise me if anything I posted there for you is gone and I will attempt to re-enter it.

Also forum posters should check there and reenter anything that you had previously posted.

The hosting company is making changes to our backups and security.

Hopefully this situation will not happen again.

I apologize for the situation.

MUCH MORE TO COME...................

December 12, 2004           Apologies to ALL !

Since October, I have been overwhelmed with many other aspects of my other extra curricular activities. I realized that if I wasn't going to meetings every night of the week, I was coming home from work and sitting in front of my computer doing paper work for this organization or that. I finally discovered that just simply over extended myself.

I have since taken steps to cut down on the 'other' stuff in order to devote more time to this site.

To all those who have sent in emails and documents, I will do my best to address them over the next few weeks. I have some time off during the Christmas season and will try to devote much of it to putting this info on the site.

Happy Holidays to all !  (and thanks for your patience).

Please bear with me as I progress slowly towards completing these goals.

Be sure and check our FORUM and feel free to post whatever info/requests for info you might have.
