Leo H. Brown

90th Infantry Division

359th Regiment

Company F.

Leo Joined the 90th Infantry at Camp Barkley, Texas on April 7, 1942.  He endured the training there, Louisiana, and the desert of California before being shipped off to Ft. Dix, New Jersey.

He entered Normandy on D+1 after the Suzan B. Anthony hit a mine and sank in the channel.  He was seriously wounded on July 4th and returned to combat at the Saar River area.  He lost many good friends and soldiers in that battle.  He lost more friends and comrades in the Berle area in January of 1945 as well as most of his hearing when a shell exploded near him and blew out one of his eardrums.

Leo stayed with the war until the end and finally returned home to a placid region of New Mexico where he grew up.  He returned to farming.

I have known Leo for 26 years as I married his daughter.  I have never met a man who was harder working, true to his word, and an example of the type of individual who is a treasure to humanity.

I have nothing but the highest regard for this man of courage and honor!

Randal Jentzen (father of Leo's grandchildren).
