I am the daughter of Albert James Apple, Jr., T/Sgt., Company B, 357th Infantry, Serial Number 38535813.

Albert James Apple, Jr. was born on May 18, 1923 in Fannin County, Texas to Albert James Apple, Sr. and Beulah Vista Grant.  He was the 5th of 13 children.   He died on January 27, 1990 in Fort Worth, Texas.

My Dad was inducted into the service on October 26, 1943 and entered on November 16, 1943 at Dallas, Texas.  (I requested a copy of his file from the National Personnel Records Center in St. Louis, but there’s nothing in it that tells me where he went to boot camp – do you know where else I could search?)

According to his Separation papers, my Dad served in the following battles and campaigns:  Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe.  He received the Silver Star and we have one Purple Heart at home.  He was separated at Camp Fannin, Texas on December 7, 1945.

I’ve enclosed photographs of my Dad’s “platoon” but only a few had names on the back.  I have not been able to locate any of these guys.  But if anyone knows who they are and where they are, I would love to talk to them.   (I have these photos scanned and can email ).
